In Isaiah 2:1-5, one of the readings for Sunday, we are told of a time when the nations will no longer raise swords and spears against each other; there will be no war. We sigh. This hasn’t happened yet.
Before condemning only the nations, perhaps we should look at ourselves. Do we still use the ‘swords’ of our attitudes, the ways we look at each other, and the way we treat each other? Do we use our words as ‘spears’? If we are honest, we must admit that like the nations, we as individuals are not always walking in the light. Not yet.
