In Mark 10:46-52, we have the story of the blind man asking Jesus to make him see. In this story, unlike some of the other healings, Jesus doesn’t do anything. Nothing. Instead he tells the man his own faith has saved him – and the man is suddenly able to see.
This man’s need was for sight. Even if we have no physical problems, we all have something – maybe it’s unrest, or concerns, or fears. If we want to feel better, perhaps we need to have the faith of the blind man. The faith that Jesus could make things better, and he knew exactly what better meant for him. Perhaps we, too, need to have that faith – we need to believe that God is in control, whatever that means. If we can believe this is true, even for a moment, we, too, will see things differently than when we live with unrest, the concerns, and the fear.
