As people in the United States celebrate Mother’s Day by honoring Mothers, let us also honor the feminine aspects of Creator God. Writers of the Scriptures have shown us that like earthly mothers who serve as our teachers, our comforter and our protector, God does the same.
God as teacher: Hosea 11:3a: 3 Yet I taught Ephraim to walk
God as comforter: Isaiah 66:13a: 13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you;
God as protector: Hosea 13:8: 8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps and will rend the caul of their heart; and there will I devour them like a lioness; the wild beast shall tear them.
And like human mothers, who always think of their children, no matter their current relationship, no matter how old the children are, God loves us.
Isaiah 49:15: 15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, these may forget, yet will not I forget thee.
And for this, we can thank our Mother God. Amen.
